JBAB Early Dismissal Info

For JBAB personnel (All others, seek guidance from your command/agency):

The forecast is calling for a wintry mix today with heavy snow later tonight. Due to the severe weather forecast for this evening, the JBAB Commander has authorized early dismissal for military personnel and liberal leave for civilian employees, at supervisor discretion.

Civilians are authorized to depart 2 hours earlier than their normal scheduled departure time per OPM’s guidance.

Our Joint Base is not closed and normal customer service hours must still be provided.

The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) is responsible for making operating status determinations for ALL federal agencies within the Washington DC area, including the Department of Defense.

OPM will announce to the media the status of the Federal government.

Personnel may check local radio and television, e.g., TV Channels ABC, NBC, FOX, and CBS, and WTOP radio, which currently operates on the following broadcast frequencies: 103.5 FM, 103.9 FM, and 107.7 FM, 1500AM and 820AM.

Personnel may also use the following resources to determine the operating status of Federal agencies as follows:

Personnel may access the status of government operations on the OPM website at http://www.opm.gov/Operating_Status_Schedules or the DON/AA website at http://www.donhq.navy.mil/aausn/ContentView.aspx?ID=393.

Additionally, employees may hear recorded messages on the operating status by calling OPM’s Office of Communications and Public Liaison at (202) 606-1900.

As a reminder – Emergency/mission critical employees are required to remain or report to work in arrival delays, dismissals, or closure situations.

Personnel should always use Operational Risk Management (ORM) before making the decision to travel in inclement weather conditions. Be safe!
